FUTURA™ RESEARCH2024

FUTURA is a research between sound and design.

FUTURA is a project by Giorgio de Vecchi curated in collaboration with Giulia di Lenarda

This is the largest sound reproduction system designed by FUTURA research, and it is also the most musically fascinating.

The system is used for sound experimentation events and musical listening sessions both outdoors and in large indoor spaces.

This project was developed with the collaboration of Lucio Arboit, the person who introduced me to the design of acoustic systems.

This type of acoustic system amplifies the sound mechanically, from the design of its shape, this architecture is very efficient, it requires a few watts to sonorize a room, this leads to lower energy consumption and less sound distortion.

Given the architecture, the sound is emitted and directed only from the front, there is a very low rear emission, this leads to decreasing and controlling the resonances of the environment, the result is lower audio volume, less distorted and more scenic impact in the room, therefore more faithful musical reproduction.

The specific design uses only a relatively small single speaker from 35Hz to 18kHz, this measure ensures that the low frequencies have low distortion and the effect of the turbulence of normal low frequency systems is eliminated leading to two important results: the first is that the low frequencies are very fast and therefore very realistic, the second result is the very fast temporal decay of the low frequencies which leads to minimizing the “rumble” effect typical of classical professional systems.
